Communities In Schools is partnering with Walla Walla Public Schools during the 2026–2027 school year to promote its Every Day Counts attendance awareness campaign, emphasizing the important role regular school attendance plays in student learning, achievement, and long-term success.

Superintendent Dr. Ben Gauyan was up bright and early on the first day of school, catching a school bus at a neighborhood bus stop and riding to Berney Elementary to welcome students and families as they began the 2026-2027 school year.

Today, Walla Walla Public Schools staff came together at Walla Walla High School for the SEL Summit – Walk in Their Shoes, a full-day professional learning experience designed to strengthen support for students while fulfilling Washington state’s required Social Emotional Learning (SEL) training.
